JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Clinical Informatics Programs Director - Office of the CMIO (OCMIO) is responsible for the planning, execution, and oversight of enterprise-wide clinical informatics initiatives. Embedded within the OCMIO, this position works primarily with the System CMIO while serving as a strategic and operational resource for all OCMIO leaders. The Director plays a critical role in aligning OCMIO priorities with the Information Technology organization where the OCMIO resides, managing governance processes, driving execution of strategic initiatives, and fostering strong relationships with senior leadership across the health system. The role requires a blend of strategic insight, operational discipline, and the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

Strategic Program Leadership

  • Partner with the System CMIO to define, prioritize, and deliver OCMIO strategic initiatives.

  • Serve as a shared resource to Associate CMIOs and other OCMIO leaders for cross-functional projects.

  • Lead multi-year program planning, including goal-setting, resource allocation, and risk management.

  • Establish and maintain governance processes and performance metrics to track progress and outcomes.

Program & Initiative Oversight

  • Manage execution of OCMIO-led initiatives from concept through implementation.

  • Track milestones, deliverables, and dependencies to ensure timely completion of all programs.

  • Coordinate with enterprise project management and IT leadership to align timelines and resources.

  • Prepare executive-level updates, reports, and dashboards to support decision-making.

Relationship Management Across IT

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the OCMIO and the Information Technology organization.

  • Develop strong working relationships with IT leadership, application teams (including Epic), infrastructure teams, and governance bodies.

  • Represent OCMIO priorities in IT planning and execution meetings to ensure alignment of efforts.

Governance & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent the CMIO's office in governance forums, leadership councils, and enterprise planning sessions.

  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between clinical leaders, operational executives, and IT stakeholders.

  • Drive change management strategies to promote adoption of informatics solutions and ensure sustainability.

Data, Reporting & Communication

  • Develop and maintain program dashboards, KPI reports, and executive briefings.

  • Analyze data to evaluate program performance and recommend improvements.

  • Translate technical and clinical concepts into clear, actionable communication for executive audiences.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare, informatics, IT, or related field required

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in healthcare with a strong focus on clinical informatics; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Master's degree preferred.

  • Experience in an Epic environment preferred.

  • Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies preferred.

  • Project management experience (PMP or equivalent) preferred.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills for senior leadership audiences.
