Are you an aspiring AI professional looking to gain practical experience in building AI agents, so you can expand your skillset? We are seeking a motivated and curious AI Development Intern to join our team in developing next-generation AI agents. This internship offers hands-on experience in designing, testing, and deploying intelligent agents that automate complex workflows and enhance decision-making across enterprise functions. At VSP Vision, we're on a mission to help people see every possibility-and we do that through our strategic business pillars that work together to connect nearly 90 million patients and their health data to network doctors in a variety of settings across the globe. As the AI Agent Development Intern, you'll work alongside experienced engineers, data scientists, and product managers to build agentic frameworks using cutting-edge tools like Mistral AI, OpenAI, and Snowflake Cortex. You'll have the unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects across insurance, supply chain and retail, mentorship from senior AI leaders, and exposure to strategic initiatives. This role is ideal for students passionate about artificial intelligence, machine learning, and real-world applications of autonomous systems. During this internship, you may assist with the following duties: AI Agent Development: Assist in building and refining AI agents using LLMs and multimodal models for tasks such as data exploration, scenario planning, and workflow automation Prompt Engineering & Orchestration: Design prompts and workflows that enable agents to reason, plan, and act autonomously Data Integration: Work with structured and unstructured datasets to train and evaluate agent performance Testing & Evaluation: Conduct rigorous testing of agent capabilities, including edge cases and failure modes Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of experiments, model iterations, and performance metrics Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with business teams to clarify what's needed and propose what's possible to elevate their operating practices Preferred Skills: Proficiency in Python and familiarity with AI/ML libraries (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face) Exposure to frameworks like Snowflake Cortex, RAG systems, or agent-based modeling Understanding of reinforcement learning, planning algorithms, or simulation environments (e.g., OpenAI Gym, Unity) Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment Experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, AWS, Azure) Interest in ethical AI, privacy, and responsible deployment practices Qualities of the ideal candidate: Eager to learn Inquisitive problem-solver Creative thinker Self-motivated Job-Related Requirements: Facilities to work remotely, including private or semi-private workspace Access to high-speed internet Technology will be provided Education Level: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's (3rd or 4th year) or Master's program Degree Target: Data Science, AI, Computer Science or related field Program Dates: June 1st to Aug 7th (You must be able to work the full 10 weeks) #LI-VISIONCARE Compensation range for the role is listed below. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
