Overview
Under the general direction of the Indirect Lending Manager, this position provides support for the Credit Union's Lending Programs; works directly with the manager on a daily basis to resolve all matters regarding the lending programs; performs a variety of loan related duties, including loan disbursals, payment changes, and loan maintenance tasks. Engage in strengthening and maintaining a professional and positive relationship with other departments within the credit union. Support established credit union goals by meeting loan servicing and member service metrics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Loan Service, Decisions and Support



  • Work directly on loans to ensure accurate loan decisions and recommendations are made in compliance with credit union policies and procedures.
  • Process member requests for balance transfers.
  • Process disbursal requests from outside departments as needed.
  • Mail necessary disclosures.
  • Engage in quality control, self-auditing, making loan corrections, maintaining loan records, such as notes and security instruments and reports.
  • Provide additional support for handling member related calls to resolve issues. Ability to identify, recommend and implement operational efficiencies.


Audit



  • Verify all information on approvals (rates, social security number, and account status).
  • Verify all bank wire requests, checks, and ACH (loan amounts, funding totals). Review documents to support credit decision (verification of income, tax returns, personal financial statements, and additional supporting documents).


Reporting



  • Review and process reports pertaining to consumer loans.


Service/Business Development



  • Maintain an open line of communication in order to promote a positive relationship with members.
  • Anticipate and/or investigate causes for inadequate results and make recommendations to the member loan center management team that are within limits of the Credit Union corporate objectives.
  • Partner with member loan center management to develop process efficiencies, enhanced tracking and other ideas to ensure the workflow is efficient.
  • Audit loan files received to ensure all credit union policies and departmental procedures have been adhered to.
  • Ensure departmental turnaround times are met.
  • Contact member/applicant to obtain/verify application information.
  • Complete departmental testing for software/system upgrades.


Daily/Monthly Work



  • Maintain tracking logs related to the lending program. Perform end of month duties such as totaling logs, balancing figures, and completing graphs in excel.
  • Disburse within loan approval to include completion of all applicable stipulations.


Responsible for completion of applicable training and compliance on federal regulations and APGFCU policies and procedures as related to the duties of this position (Bank Secrecy Act, Information Security as examples, if applicable). Perform other related duties as required or directed.

Position Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Specialized training equivalent to two years college preferred. Experience can be credited in lieu of education.

Experience: Two to three years' experience with financial institution products and services. Including previous experience with consumer loans.



  • Knowledge of financial institution products, services and operations.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills on the phone, in person, and written.
  • Ability to multi task in a fast paced work environment.
  • Possess a positive attitude and a desire to help people every day.
  • Proficient in all MS Office applications.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.


Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent member/customer service orientation, human relations, consumer lending knowledge; ability to work independently and as part of a team, solve challenges and make sound decisions; demonstrate flexibility and eagerness to learn and embrace challenge. Ability to effectively plan and organize work, to obtain, analyze and compile data and to make corrective action recommendations. Ability to convey information in a clear, focused and concise manner.

Preferences: Previous loan interviewing experience.

Compensation information: Offers are based on experience and education.

Hourly: $18.94 - $23.67.
