Sr. Quality Engineer

We are looking for a Sr. Quality Engineer to join Endress+Hauser Optical Analysis, the global leader in Raman spectroscopy, tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS), and quenched fluorescence (QF) instrumentation for laboratory, process, and manufacturing environments. Our laser-based analyzer systems perform high-performance chemical composition and concentration measurement of all phases of matter in any installation environment.

What is the role about?

As part of our Quality team, the Sr. Quality Engineer leads quality assurance efforts by monitoring and measuring process performance indicators, facilitating root cause analysis and communicating with designated customer contacts regarding quality requirements. This position will work with organizational leadership at all levels as well as cross-functionally to implement, maintain and continually improve quality measures. They will also lead CAPA initiatives to identify, correct and eliminate the cause of a non-conformity, ensuring compliance with regulations. They will use their expertise to train staff and mentor other team members on quality practices. This position is fully on site in our Rancho Cucamonga, CA manufacturing location.

Which essential functions will you perform?

  • Ensure that Quality policies and procedures are adhered to throughout the Organization.
  • Manage the CAPA lifecycle by facilitating investigations to find root causes, developing action plans, implementing solutions, verifying effectiveness and ensure proper document control.
  • Maintain accurate records in QMS and generate reports on CAPA metrics.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and other departments to implement quality planning, process flow diagrams, FMEA, risk management, inspection plans, and KPIs for key processes.
  • Serve as primary support to manufacturing and engineering in resolving product-related nonconformances.
  • Identify and lead opportunities for continuous improvement within the quality system and manufacturing processes; provide training on these initiatives to production center staff.
  • Ensure product containment practices are being followed.
  • Ensure calibrated instruments are being used and report any discrepancies as required.
  • Conduct and support internal process or quality system audits.
  • Collect data, organize, and evaluate data using various statistical methods.
  • Conduct new supplier evaluations and subsequent follow-up process or system audits.
  • Participate in customer / supplier visits and audits as required, either virtually or in-person at customer location.

What qualifications are needed?

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred) and job-related experience, including strong experience and background of quality systems and their mechanics in a specialty instrument, optics, or electronics environment.
  • 7+ years' experience in quality engineering in a manufacturing facility.
  • Must have experience with ISO 9001 based quality system standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly and component drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Must be hands-on with the ability to perform and train others in all quality functions.
  • Experience in risk management, FMEA and process flow development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and present the data.
  • Strong understanding of quality management principles, statistical analysis, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Proven abilities to lead projects and drive change.
  • ASQ CQA, CQE, CQ/OEM certification or equivalent.
  • Six sigma green belt and lean experience / certification.
  • Lead auditor certificate in ISO 9001, AS9100, IATF 16949 or equivalent.
  • Knowledgeable with ISO 17025.
  • Explosive atmosphere equipment manufacturing experience preferred.
  • A background in quality systems and their mechanics in specialty instruments, optics, or electronics environment.

What qualifications are desired?

  • Electrical, mechanical or manufacturing degree preferred.
  • ASQ CQA, CQE, CQ/OEM certification or equivalent.
  • Six sigma green belt and lean experience / certification.
  • Lead auditor certificate in ISO 9001, AS9100, IATF 16949 or equivalent.
  • Knowledgeable with ISO 17025.
  • Explosive atmosphere equipment manufacturing experience preferred.
  • A background in quality systems and their mechanics in specialty instruments, optics, or electronics environment.

The listed range for this position is $95,000-$120,000 but the actual package offered may vary depending on different factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation for this position would include other elements which include an annual nondiscretionary bonus.
