Job Purpose and Overview

Dawn Foods is offering an exciting global opportunity for a Senior Paralegal to join a leading international bakery products company. In this role, you will report directly to the Senior Corporate Counsel and play a key part in supporting the Law and Governance Team. Your primary focus will be assisting the commercial and business teams, as well as providing legal support to the Senior Corporate Counsel and Chief Legal Officer across a wide range of legal and governance matters.

Additionally, you will help drive operational excellence within the Law and Governance Team by managing and optimizing legal technologies, billing systems, matter management tools, and contract lifecycle management solutions.

Work Environment & Travel: This is a hybrid role based at our Home Office in Jackson, MI, with occasional travel, up to 10% of the time.

What will you do as a Senior Paralegalat Dawn Foods?

Contract and Document Management



  • Draft, review, revise, and prepare a variety of commercial and operational agreements, including NDAs, Supply Agreements, Sales Agreements, Service Agreements, Software Agreements, and other similar commercial and operational agreements.
  • Manage and assist in the organization of the Law and Governance Teams' electronic document database and paper records.
  • Interact with business partners and leaders to assist with the contract review process and information management.
  • Maintain and update contract templates and clause libraries

    • Track contract milestones, internal renewal dates, and compliance obligations
    • Coordinate the execution of contracts and manage signature processes
    • Assist in resolving contract-related disputes or inquiries





Litigation Management



  • Manage the intake of subpoenas and other litigation discovery requests and gather information.
  • Issue and manage litigation legal holds to the company team members.
  • Assist outside counsel and internal legal counsel with litigation requests and support as needed.



Labor and Employment



  • Assist Senior Counsel, the Chief Legal Officer, and the People Organization with the handling and administration of all Labor and employment-related matters, including coordination with outside counsel.



Intellectual Property



  • Assist outside counsel with the management of an intellectual property portfolio, consisting primarily of trademarks, including working with outside counsel to coordinate trademark searches, applications, filings, and renewals.



Compliance, Risk Management, and Education Support



  • Assist in the development and implementation of compliance programs and policies.
  • Support the speak-up hotline and assist in the investigation and handling of compliance-related matters as needed.
  • Manage the compliance training learning management system.
  • Provide support with the creation and delivery of compliance education and training materials.
  • Maintain electronic and/or physical I-9 records in compliance with federal regulations
  • Conduct regular audits of I-9 forms to ensure compliance and correct errors



Legal Operations



  • Process Optimization: Assist in the development and implementation of standardized processes, policies, and procedures to enhance efficiency within the Law and Governance function.
  • Technology Implementation: Leading the selection, implementation, and maintenance of legal technology solutions.
  • Vendor Management: Managing relationships with legal vendors, contracts, and outside counsel.



Miscellaneous



  • Perform legal research as requested by counsel.
  • Assist counsel with other matters as directed.
  • Partner with counsel and the business to support the business goals and objectives
  • Other tasks as assigned



What Does It Take to be a Senior Paralegal at Dawn Foods?

Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.



  • An Associate Degree or higher is required
  • A Paralegal Certification is required
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in a law firm or in-house legal department

    • Commercial business law knowledge, experience, and/or exposure is a plus


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Compensation

$78,370-$122,260 with bonus eligibility
