Position Summary

The Memorial Medical Center Foundation (MMCF) raises and stewards philanthropic support for Long Beach Medical Center (LBMC) and Miller Children's and Women's Hospital (MCWH). Reporting to the foundation president and working collaboratively with the MMCF team and hospital staff, is a strategic and results-oriented leader responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive fundraising program focused on securing significant philanthropic contributions from individuals through major gifts and planned giving initiatives. Oversees a growing team of major gift officers. Engages physicians and other hospital leaders in major gift fundraising efforts.

Strategic leader for the foundation and the hospitals responsible for driving transformational advancement through philanthropy.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

Supports and operationalizes the mission statement, vision, values, and plans of the LBMC and MMCF, and actively works to enhance the reputation of LBMC and MMCF with all constituents.

Strengthens and promotes the public image, mission, philosophy and values of the organization with public and private agencies, individuals, corporations and foundations, and with hospital colleagues to define the role philanthropy plays in supporting the hospital. Represents the foundation and medical center in the community, building strong relationships with stakeholders and serving as a key ambassador for the organization's mission.

Participates in strategic planning and aligns operational activity with the foundation's overall goals and mission. Leads, manages, and mentors the major gifts and planned giving team fostering high performance and collaboration.

Manages a portfolio of high-value individual prospects and donors, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships to secure major ($25K+) and planned gifts.

In collaboration with the foundation senior leaders, develops and leads the strategy and process of a modern relationship management, tracking, and accountability (Moves Management) system, and ensures major gift donor activity is recorded appropriately in the CRM (Blackbaud NXT).

Drives pipeline building activity through collaboration with donor engagement programs and utilizes data and research, identifying and qualifying prospects. Moves suspects to assignment as a major gift process or disqualification.

Collaborates with marketing and communications and third-party vendors to develop and implement marketing and communication

strategies that promote planned giving and major gifts, ensuring messaging is aligned with the foundation's brand and mission. Oversees the development of compelling proposals, cases for support, and other materials to engage and inspire donors.

Engages with key professional advisors (e.g., estate planners, financial advisors) to develop and facilitate planned gift opportunities, and stays current with industry trends, tax laws, and best practices in major and planned giving.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.
