Overview
This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit's Commercial Business Units ("Spirit Commercial"). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing's three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial's core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities:
- Analyzes and designs sequence of operations and workflow to improve efficiencies in plant and production facilities and equipment layouts; and establishes methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel and optimization of product flow.
- May establish or assist in establishing accident prevention measures and may manage training programs for personnel concerning all phases of production operations.
- Conducts studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems. Based on these studies, develops and implements optimized product flow.
- May assist facilities engineers in the planning and design of facilities.
- Develops and provides time standards to the shop floor as well as standard work for operations and processes.
- Utilizes analytical skills for capacity analysis, tool and equipment utilization as well as line balancing.
- Performs trend analysis of shop performance measures to identify opportunities for improvements.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program, preferably Industrial Engineering
- 5-8 years of experience in industrial engineering with a bachelor's degree, or 3-6 years of industrial engineering experience with a master's degree
- Knowledge of IE Tools used in production including capacity analysis, theory of constraints, waste elimination, production improvements
- Experience leading projects and project teams with a continuous improvement focus
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of leadership
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

- Experience in aerospace manufacturing environment

Union: This is a union-represented position. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Summary Pay Range: $85,600 - $131,200 Kansas Tax Credit: Join Spirit AeroSystems' Kansas team and you may be eligible for a $5,000 state of Kansas Aviation tax credit for up to five years.
