Job Summary

Supports the operations of the semiconductor manufacturing instructional lab at Rio Salado College. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining laboratory equipment, supplies, and facilities aligned with photolithography, vacuum systems, optics, characterization, and other processes; ensuring safety compliance; assisting faculty with hands-on lab demonstrations and student support; assists with outreach and professional development events; and maintaining records.

Essential Functions

20% - Maintains, prepares, and calibrates lab equipment for semiconductor-related processes such as photolithography, metrology, vacuum systems, and characterization techniques
15% - Assists faculty in setting up and conducting instructional labs and industry-aligned demonstrations for technician training cohorts
15% - Monitors lab safety protocols, maintains material safety data sheet (MSDS) and safety documentation, and ensure appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and cleanroom procedures
10% - Inventories, procures, and organizes lab supplies and consumables specific to semiconductor manufacturing instruction
10% - Supports logistics for outreach and industry-aligned professional development events, including equipment transport, setup, and tear-down
10% - Assists with documentation and record-keeping, including lab usage, student participation, and industry engagement
10% - Coordinates minor repairs and schedule service for specialized lab tools and equipment
10% - Participates in department meetings and contributes to the continuous improvement of instructional lab activities in coordination with faculty and staff. Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and one year of laboratory experience such as maintaining equipment, facility space, supplies or other resources used for laboratory purposes in area of assignment.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

A. Experience maintaining, calibrating, and operating semiconductor manufacturing equipment (photolithography systems, metrology tools, vacuum systems, thin film deposition, or characterization equipment).
B. Experience or knowledge in cleanroom environments and semiconductor industry safety standards, MSDS management, PPE protocols, and hazardous materials handling.
C. Experience supporting faculty or instructors in educational laboratory settings, including lab preparation, student assistance, and hands-on demonstration support.
D. Experience managing technical inventory systems, procuring specialized laboratory supplies and consumables, and maintaining organized supply chains for lab operations.
E. Experience diagnosing equipment issues, performing minor repairs, and coordinating with service vendors to maintain equipment maintenance schedules.
F. Experience with laboratory documentation systems, including equipment logs, usage tracking, compliance records, and student participation data.
G. Experience or knowledge in Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology, Nanotechnology, Engineering Technology, Materials Science, or a related field; AND/OR relevant industry certifications (e.g., SEMI standards, cleanroom certification, equipment-specific training).

Special Working Conditions

May be required to work at multiple sites or locations. Work Schedule Varies; May be required to work evenings and weekends. This is a short-term position with a projected end date of Sept 2028 with renewal contingent on funding source. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals within the lab environment.

Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License is required; employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving:
