Oklahoma City Summer Externship

Six Week Winter Extern Program

$18.00/hr

Overview:

During your six-week externship, you will have the opportunity to experience working with a preceptor. You may also choose to shadow in additional departments. Discover where your passion for nursing is leading you at Mercy!

Qualifications:

This program is open to any unlicensed RN student (cannot have or obtain LPN license before or during the program) who will have completed at least two semesters of nursing school and graduating Fall 2026 through Spring 2027.

Certifications: BLS Certification required before assigned to care for patients independently

In addition to the online application the following documents must be emailed to Nikki.Nelson@Mercy.net:

- Electronic Transcript

- Skills Checklist signed by Clinical Instructor

- Personal Statement. Should include answers to the following questions:

• Why did you choose nursing as a profession?
• What unit are you most interested in and/or tell us about the best clinical experience you've had so far and why (do not share the name of the facility)?
• What is your ideal work environment?

Application and Supporting Documents must be submitted by Friday, January 30th, 2026 in ONE EMAIL - please send documents only, no photos of documents will be accepted. Multiple emails and profiles without uploaded resume will be considered incomplete.

Interviews will be scheduled for February 18th, 2026

Offers will be made by March 2nd, 2026

Program will begin May 26th, 2026 and end on July 4th, 2026 (with opportunity to stay in a Nurse Tech role after the completion of the extern program)
