MuleSoft Systems Integration Engineer
Job Summary This position is considered Flexible / Rotation. Employee will work on a rotational schedule to ensure on-site coverage of key IT functions.
The MuleSoft Systems Integration Engineer leads the design, development, implementation, maintenance and support of real time integration and interfaces between the applications at UCSF Health, Benioff Children's Hospitals and our affiliates integrated systems that support patient care, medical faculty, clinical staff, administrative staff and departments, and information services. Works under the direction of the Integration Services Manager and is the expert of data integration in healthcare. Possesses advanced knowledge of interfaces, healthcare IT systems and the operational workflows. Key technical abilities includes the gathering of information from users and defining work problems then translating these requirement into a integration solutions. In addition, the Systems Integration Engineer will provide support of existing interfaces and will assist in providing innovative integrated solutions to UCSF Health, Benioff Children's Hospitals and our partners.
The MuleSoft Systems Integration Engineer functions as the expert of integration solutions and assists departments in solving their integration needs. Successful candidate enjoys matching solutions with problems and is excited to share their expertise with the team and departments that seeks their assistance. They are a team player, enjoys collaborating with others and is highly motivated to help UCSF fulfil our larger mission. They follow IT policy and procedures and will assist in improving processes and documentation. The ideal candidate will focus on developing new systems integration using MuleSoft ESB and API Manager and has experience using multiple technologies to develop business critical systems in a distributed architecture. In addition to integration background and expertise, strong communication and positive collaboration are critical skills needed for this position.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors, including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $113,800 - $242,800 (Annual Rate). We provide the integration platforms and expertise in order to build robust, reusable and cost efficient interfaces for reliable data sharing and exchange between applications, platforms and services.
We serve UCSF Health, UCSF Campus, Benioff Children's Hospitals and affiliates. For many years we have worked with the UCSF Health providing integration solutions through Epic Bridges and Cloverleaf interface engine, which excels at Health Level-7 (HL7) messaging between healthcare systems. In addition, to accommodate broader integration solutions, we also provide an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) and API Manager.
The Integration Services team builds new integrations from scratch, reuses existing integration solutions, enhance existing integrations, or provide consulting to help achieve integration needs. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- 5+ years of hands-on integration experience that can include experience with other tools /vendors such as JBoss Fuse, Dell Boomie, IBM WebSphere, Oracle Fusion, etc.
- Certification: Salesforce Certified MuleSoft Developer II
- Advanced knowledge of systems integration deploying complex systems integration solutions.
- Advanced skills associated with system integration design, modification, implementation, and deployment in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated ability to understand functional needs of the campus / medical center and/or UC system and how systems can support those needs.
- Demonstrated ability to interface with senior-level technical and non-technical management on a regular basis.
- Demonstrated ability to create software specifications.
- Experience with the identification and use of code libraries and open-source forums.
- Demonstrated ability to identify software and hardware interdependences in a complex multi-platform environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop solutions for complex business and systems/custom / ad-hoc solutions.
- Experience with complex multi-platform troubleshooting in a multi-platform environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of hands-on experience with MuleSoft Platform- ESB, CloudHub, and API Management
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with Salesforce integration projects, including API development and data synchronization
- 3+ years of experience writing, optimizing, and managing SQL queries and database operations
- 1+ years of experience leveraging AI technologies, including machine learning models, AI-powered automation, or intelligent data processing solutions
- Epic or Healthcare API/FHIR experience
- HL7 v2 knowledge
- Epic Interconnect knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to develop complex conversion and system implementation plans.
- Experience with planning for deployment and creation of feedback mechanisms.
- Experience developing and implementing complex project plans.
- Experience researching and evaluating new technology and solutions for complex environments.
- Ability to impart knowledge to senior level technical and non-technical audiences and to influence outcomes to meet objectives.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with monitoring tools, performance, and systems optimization, including intermediate knowledge of security for data, data transfers and systems.
