| Position Summary |
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine is seeking a board certified/board eligible (BC/BE) Neurointensivist to join our growing group. The successful candidate will join our team of 7 neurointensivists providing neurocritical care services in our state-of-the-art Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (
NSICU) at the University of North Carolina Medical Center in Chapel Hill. The appointment is for either a fixed-term or tenure-track faculty appointment. This recruitment is open rank and dependent upon qualification/experience of the candidate.
The Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (
NSICU) at
UNC Medical Center is currently a 22-bed unit staffed full-time by neurointensivists; acute care advanced practice providers providing 24/7 coverage; and trainees rotating from neurology, neurosurgery, pulmonary/critical care, and emergency medicine. The unit will expand to likely 33 beds in the near future. We have an
ACGME-accredited fellowship training program in Neurocritical Care. In addition to having primary clinical responsibility in the
NSICU, the faculty recruit will also provide attending services for a subset of intermediate care neurology inpatients and
ICU neurology consults.
UNC Medical Center is a tertiary referral center for the state of North Carolina, a Joint Commission certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, and a Level I trauma center. The
UNC School of Medicine is a US News and World Report 2023 top 30 medical school and, in collaboration with Duke University School of Medicine, is a
NINDS (National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke) StrokeNet Regional Coordinating Center with a robust Neurology Clinical Trials Unit. We offer a rich academic environment with extensive opportunities for collaborative research within the institution. Chapel Hill is one of the three 'points' of the Research Triangle, along with Raleigh and Durham; it receives accolades for being a top location to live and work. ABMS/
ABPN (American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology) certified/eligible in neurocritical care and be eligible to obtain a North Carolina medical license. |
