DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Investment Office Intern in our Operations group, you will work directly with the PSERS Investment Office (IO) Operations staff to oversee the operations of a large and complex pension fund. You will get a chance to work on items such as operational risk mitigation, reporting & data visualization, process design & improvement, and much more. Upon completion of this internship, you will have learned:
- How investment operations are managed and executed in a governmental pension setting
- First-hand, real-time knowledge of and experience working with associated investments
- Best practices for investment operations, research, project management, and communications
The intern will be assigned a supervisor within the Operations group who will lead their daily work schedule, while also benefitting from specific programming providing a broader overview of the overall pension fund.
POTENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION
- Assist with Investment System Administration and Maintenance/Testing
- Assist with portfolio related databases and investment data management
- Participate in Project Management activities of the IO.
- Participate in Process Design and Improvement efforts.
- Assist with Automation efforts
- Participate in Vendor Management calls and activities
- Collaborate across the Public Markets, Private Markets, Risk, and Operations groups to benefit efficient, effective functioning of the PSERS IO
- Assist with portfolio team inquiries
- Cross train with other operations teams (trade support, reporting, governance, & private markets ops).
- Assist with reporting through the use of PowerBI and/or Tableau
- Take organized, detailed meeting notes and create executive summaries.
- Work on special projects as needed
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Work Schedule: This internship is expected to run for 10 weeks throughout the 2026 summer (June to August) for 37.5 hours per week between the hours of 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
- Telework: The summer internship will follow PSERS teleworking policy, which is expected to include in person training at PSERS' Harrisburg, PA headquarters, require Pennsylvania residency during the internship, and otherwise accommodate remote work as agreed with the intern's manager. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
- Interview Schedule: Interviews are expected to take place over January and February and will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in college full-time (carrying 12 or more undergraduate credits, or 9 or more graduate credits).
- Be in good academic standing (GPA of 2.0 or higher).
- Be at least 18 years of age.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be reliable and detail-oriented, excellent organizational aptitude.
- You must have positive "can-do" attitude and strong work ethic.
- You must work well with others in a team environment.
- You must have the ability to multi-task and maintain focus in a time-sensitive environment.
- You must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- You must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
