Position Overview The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for generating, contracting, and servicing social catering events of 174 guests and below, as well as day meetings that do not require sleeping rooms. This role focuses on building strong client relationships, maximizing catering revenue, and ensuring seamless execution of events that reflect the exceptional service standards of The St. Anthony Hotel. Key Responsibilities Sales & Business Development
- Prospect, solicit, and secure new social catering and day-meeting business through
networking, lead generation, community engagement, and direct sales efforts. - Respond promptly to incoming inquiries and create customized proposals tailored to
client needs. - Conduct site visits, menu consultations, and planning meetings with prospective clients.
- Negotiate rates, menus, event details, and terms in alignment with hotel pricing
guidelines and revenue goals. - Meet or exceed individual and team catering revenue goals.
Event Planning & Coordination
- Work closely with clients from initial inquiry through event execution, ensuring a
seamless planning experience. - Prepare detailed Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), event diagrams, and other documentation
required for successful event delivery. - Collaborate with the Banquets, Culinary, and Operations teams to clearly communicate
event details and client expectations. - Maintain accurate event files, revenue forecasts, traced communications, and updated
catering systems.
Client Experience & Service
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing timely communication, expert
guidance, and high-level service. - Ensure all events are executed with the elegance and service standards expected of The
St. Anthony Hotel. - Conduct post-event follow-up to ensure satisfaction, address concerns, and encourage
repeat business and referrals.
Administrative & Reporting
- Utilize hotel sales systems (e.g., CI/TY, or equivalents) for accurate data entry,
forecasting, and booking management. - Prepare weekly/monthly activity reports as required by leadership.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of hotel offerings, menus, spaces, and operational
capabilities.
Qualifications Required
- 2+ years of catering sales, hotel sales, or event planning experience.
- Proven ability to sell and service events, preferably in a hotel, catering company, or event
venue environment. - Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
- Proficiency with sales and catering software systems.
Preferred
- Experience selling or coordinating social events (weddings, celebrations, fundraisers,
luncheons) and small day meetings. - Familiarity with luxury or historic hotel environments.
- Knowledge of San Antonio market is a plus.
