  • Three or more years of work experience as a project coordinator in a human sciences field. Computer literacy (proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Office, etc.).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with planning, implementing, marketing, and evaluating educational programs.
  • Ability to handle multiple demands and set priorities. Ability to manage time and resources.
  • Experience with program reporting and successful program report development.
  • Experience working effectively as a team member. Ability to learn related information as outlined in the program.
  • Ability to adapt to change as the audience and/or the program changes.
  • Ability to network with other individuals and work in a high-pressure atmosphere while maintaining a pleasant and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to adhere to operational policies and procedures.

  • Valid Driver's license and personal transportation.

Position Overview




Primary Purpose of Position
The Nia Program Coordinator will work in partnership with NC Cooperative Extension centers (Martin/Wilson County) and 4-H Extension Agents to develop and lead programming to assist limited-resource and socially disadvantaged middle-school youth in exploring post-high school pathways.
The Program Coordinator will bear primary responsibility for day-to-day operations of Nia programming. Additionally, the Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting with program recruitment, evaluation and sustainability.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is one of America's highly-respected universities, focused on interdisciplinary research, creative scholarship, exemplary undergraduate and graduate instruction, and community service and engagement.
The College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences ( CAES) has four distinct but inter-related departments (Agribusiness, Applied Economics, and Agriscience Education; Animal Science; Family and Consumer Sciences; and Natural Resources and Environmental Design). The CAES has three institutes and centers of excellence: Center for Excellence for Post-Harvest Technologies, International Trade Center, Waste Management Institute and one interdisciplinary Center for Bioenergy. To complement the academic programs in the college, the CAES has an Agricultural Research Program; Cooperative Extension Program; University Teaching and Research Farm; Child Development Laboratory; and Laboratory Animal Research Unit.

The CAES Agricultural Research Program actively engages in research projects that reflect the 1890 land-grant university mission to serve agricultural industries, communities and individuals, with a strong emphasis on research that serves small and limited-resource farms, businesses, rural communities and families in North Carolina.

Cooperative Extension at N.C. A&T is an educational outreach organization within the CAES. Cooperative Extension at A&T provides researched-based educational information, programming and technical assistance to limited-resource audiences that address a diverse range of issues in four programmatic areas - Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, Community and Rural Development, and 4-H Youth Development.
Work Hours 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Some evenings and weekends required.
