Planner/Scheduler - Capital Projects- Shutdown/Turnaround
Job ID: 104053

Do you want to work on complex and pressing challenges-the kind that bring together curious, ambitious, and determined leaders who strive to become better every day? If this sounds like you, you've come to the right place.
Your Impact
You will work in teams as a specialist practitioner to solve pressing and complex issues for clients through deploying analytical tools, as well as support the development of new proprietary tools, benchmarking databases and market perspectives.
In this role, you will often work in teams of typically 3-5 consultants, playing an active role in client engagements. This includes gathering and analyzing information, formulating and testing hypotheses and developing communication and recommendations. You'll also present results to client management and implement recommendations in collaboration with client team members.
You'll also focus on building and scaling analytical solutions used for engagement across portfolio optimization, project development and value improvement, project execution, cost and schedule diagnostic. You will also prepare detailed cost estimates and budget forecasts for large-scale capital projects using advanced software tools and internal proprietary databases.
You will contribute to McKinsey's industry knowledge by staying up to date with the latest in the capital projects industry and you will contribute to proprietary models and analyses. This includes gathering the information necessary to develop these tools and synthesize your findings into McKinsey formatted products. These products may be in the form of complex models and summary reports which evolve into standalone presentations that outline key findings and recommendations to internal and external audiences.
You will have the opportunity to gain new skills and build on the strengths you bring to the firm. You will receive exceptional training as well as frequent coaching and mentoring from colleagues on your teams.
Your Growth
Driving lasting impact and building long-term capabilities with our clients is not easy work. You are the kind of person who thrives in a high performance/high reward culture - doing hard things, picking yourself up when you stumble, and having the resilience to try another way forward.
In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we'll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities you need to become a stronger leader faster than you ever thought possible. Your colleagues-at all levels-will invest deeply in your development, just as much as they invest in delivering exceptional results for clients. Every day, you'll receive apprenticeship, coaching, and exposure that will accelerate your growth in ways you won't find anywhere else.
When you join us, you will have:
  • Continuous learning:Our learning and apprenticeship culture, backed by structured programs, is all about helping you grow while creating an environment where feedback is clear, actionable, and focused on your development. The real magic happens when you take the input from others to heart and embrace the fast-paced learning experience, owning your journey.
  • A voice that matters:From day one, we value your ideas and contributions. You'll make a tangible impact by offering innovative ideas and practical solutions. We not only encourage diverse perspectives, but they are critical in driving us toward the best possible outcomes.
  • Global community:With colleagues across 65+ countries and over 100 different nationalities, our firm's diversity fuels creativity and helps us come up with the best solutions for our clients. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to learn from exceptional colleagues with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • World-class benefits:On top of a competitive salary (based on your location, experience, and skills), we provide a comprehensive benefits package to enable holistic well-being for you and your family.
Your qualifications and skills
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering or construction science
  • 2+ years of experience on major capital projects for either an owner or contractor, ideally in a project management or project controls role
  • Background in consulting, strategy and/or research is a plus
  • Modeling capability using Excel and experience managing large datasets with databases
  • Distinctive analytical and quantitative skills
  • Proven record of leadership in a work setting and/or through extracurricular activities
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Experience with Primavera P6 tool or Generative Scheduling is a bonus
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively - both verbally and in writing
