In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. JOB TITLE: Manager of Engineering
WITI-TV Fox 6 - FOX Television Stations Owned and Operated in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is looking for a forward-thinking Engineering Manager to support daily operations of our engineering department and help lead a skilled team of station engineers. This role blends hands-on technical work with team leadership, requiring strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills and a commitment to operational excellence. What We're Looking For:
* Proven Leadership: Experience leading teams in dynamic settings, with a commitment to a 24/7 live news operation serving as a primary point of contact for addressing time-sensitive and complex maintenance or operational issues. Must maintain on-call availability for emergencies.
* Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of broadcast technologies, including RF systems, IP networking, and digital video/audio tech. Provide hands-on support for the installation, maintenance and repair of a wide range of broadcast equipment and systems.
* Strategic Thinker: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to anticipate challenges and develop effective solutions.
* Excellent Communicator: Ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
* Innovative Mindset: Experience driving innovation and implementing new technologies.

Qualifications:
* 5+ years in broadcast technology, with 3+ years in a leadership role preferred, not required.
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in broadcasting, electronics, computer science, or related field, preferred, not required.
* SBE and IT certifications are a plus.
* Experience working with and troubleshooting critical broadcast equipment, including:

* Transmission systems

* Studio production systems
* Control room automation
* Graphics platforms
* Master control operations
* Strong understanding of IP-based video/audio workflows, networking protocols, and cybersecurity best practices
* Familiarity with newsroom computer systems and media asset management systems
* Knowledge of HDR and SMPTE 2110 standards
* Experience supporting live remote broadcasts using various delivery technologies
* Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and coach technical staff
* Understanding of industry standards, regulations and compliance requirements
* Ability to identify and troubleshoot basic facilities-related issues (HVAC, plumbing, electrical)
* Strong grasp of capital and operating budgets and procurement process
* Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced, 24/7 broadcast environment
* Experience working in a union environment

Physical Requirements:
* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
* Ability to stand, sit, kneel, crouch as needed

Work Schedule:
* Full-time, regular schedule with on-call responsibilities for emergencies
* Occasional travel to transmitter and translator locations
* Flexibility to support operations outside standard business hours when necessary

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $80,000.00-90,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
