THE POSITION

The Department of Human Services is seeking dynamic and enthusiastic Food Service Workers to join our dedicated dietary services team at Clarks Summit State Hospital. In this role, you will rotate through a range of responsibilities, including food service, meal preparation, and sanitation tasks. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will assist with basic food preparation and service tasks, assemble items in the supplement, nourishment, and snack areas, and prepare pureed foods, simple menu items, and packed lunches for patients. Responsibilities include setting up tray assembly lines, preheating the steam serving counter, plating salads and desserts, portioning hot foods, and verifying tray accuracy. You will also help ensure compliance with food service sanitation standards by following established cleaning procedures. This includes maintaining a clean, sanitary environment through housekeeping duties such as cleaning floors, tables, chairs, equipment, and work surfaces. All tasks are performed under the guidance and supervision of the Food Service Supervisor.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, Sunday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch and every third weekend off. May change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime and travel: As needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
