JOB SUMMARY:

The Area Vice President, US Sales will be responsible for leading and strengthening a best-in-class field team within a highly competitive ultra-orphan disease category. This field team will support BioCryst's continued launch of the first targeted oral therapy for Hereditary Angioedema (HAE). The Area Vice President, US Sales will have primary responsibility for leading approximately half of the U.S. sales organization at BioCryst. He/she will serve as a critical member of the Commercial Leadership Team. This individual will have the proven ability to adhere to ethical and good sales practices and to work as part of a team, both in a leadership role and as a contributing member of the company. He/she will possess strong customer and patient orientation, business acumen, creativity, and interpersonal skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional colleagues including the other AVP, US Sales to develop a comprehensive plan for the field organization that supports BioCryst's sales of Orladeyo.
  • Review and analyze area/regional performance and market data in order to develop sales strategies to meet or exceed sales objectives.
  • Engage and develop a team of first line leaders who are responsible for ensuring regional teams drive sales results while effectively and compliantly promoting company's product to targeted HCPs and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain shared- ownership (with RBD and RDS) of key accounts within Area, and compliantly develop relationships with national and regional KOLs.
  • Partner cross-functionally to successfully implement go-to-market strategy..
  • Continue to retain and motivate highly talented individuals who are aligned with BioCryst's culture, mission and values.
  • Maintain a high degree of customer and patient focus at an individual and team level.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure that systems and processes are in place to support field execution and key performance indicator (KPI) tracking.
  • Act as a member of the incentive compensation committee that creates plans that are aligned with company values and goals and fosters a compliant and performance-based culture.
  • Foster an environment of compliance and integrity.
  • Serve as a visible and impactful leader of the commercial organization and the company overall.
  • Set aspirational goals and consistently inspire and motivate the team to deliver against those goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.



EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 15 years of relevant commercial experience in biotech/pharma, with at least 10 years of experience in sales or related functions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years of relevant field leadership experience.
  • Experience in complementary functions outside of sales preferred (e.g., marketing, market access, etc.).
  • Prior experience in specialty markets, particularly rare diseases, strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Creative thinker; self-directed; able to develop a plan, gain alignment, and execute.
  • Highly collaborative; can work easily across functions; comfortable leaning in to all aspects of a commercial business and making recommendations to optimize company or team approach.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Uses data and analytics to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Track record of success in competitive markets.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Superior negotiation and influencing skills.
