Job Summary

The Rehabilitation Services Manager 1 will oversee inpatient Rehab Services Supervisor 2 in acute Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy setting, Rehab Services Supervisor 2 in Prosthetics/Orthotics and Orthopedic Support Services, and the Healthcare Quality Specialist 3 PM&R Clinical Educator as direct reports. Rehabilitation Services Manager 1 will formulate department objectives, develop and maintain policies, and assist the director in developing department revenue and expense budget, control department expense budget, performance manage staff, manage space and equipment, make final decisions regarding employee recruitment including selection, work assignment, evaluation of competence, performance, and discipline; develop quality assurance standards, including mechanism for meeting the standards and tools for measuring adherence to them; interpret, implement and assure compliance with related governmental and hospital regulations and guidelines as they affect the PM&R department; and in addition, it may provide consultation and training regarding department standards for patient care. #CA-SB

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • 3 Years of supervisory or equivalent experience/training required.
  • Clinical practice knowledge and applied background in a rehabilitation service. Applies knowledge of rehabilitation industry best practices in patient diagnosis and treatment to improve clinical workflows.
  • Knowledge of relevant rehabilitation industry patient care/equipment management federal, state and local laws and any regulatory or compliance pertaining to the rehabilitation service.
  • Leadership skills in employee supervision and HR administration to effectively lead and motivate others. Conflict resolution skills to resolve personnel issues and counsel assigned staff to develop cooperative working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a complex, challenging environment. Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility, anticipates and effectively handles change.
  • Ability to organize division operations in an efficient and effective manner through improving rehabilitation processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Interpersonal skills to maintain professional relationships with peers, patients, multidisciplinary team members, senior management, and assigned staff.
  • Proven analytical abilities and problem-solving skills to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify options for resolution. Demonstrates sound judgment.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to identify the best way to communicate with patients and educate them on their treatment. Demonstrate abilities to actively listen, persuade, advise, and counsel.
  • Advanced user of internal patient care documentation technology. Knowledge of available information technology software in the industry.
  • Ability to collaborate within and across departments to integrate daily rehabilitation patient care activities and resolve problems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical center, HR and UC policies and processes.

Department Overview

The primary purpose of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) is to provide a full range of rehabilitation services designed to restore patients to their optimal functional capacity. This role will ensure proper procedures and policies are followed. Will be required to coordinate services with other patient care treatment personnel to assure proper patient care, develop and implement customer care standards and ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory agency standards.

Work Environment

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
