Job Description - Cable Technician TEKsystems is seeking Cable Technicians to support structured cabling projects throughout the Knoxville, TN area. This is a handson role focused on installing, pulling, routing, and terminating both copper and fiber cabling in commercial, industrial, and municipal environments. Project sites may include office buildings, healthcare facilities, and utility infrastructure. Responsibilities * Install, pull, and route cabling through conduits, trays, risers, and other pathways. * Terminate Cat5/Cat6 copper and fiber optic connections using industrystandard methods. * Perform cable testing, certification, labeling, and documentation. * Assist with fiber splicing, OSP/ISP pathways, and additional structured cabling tasks as needed. * Follow TIA/EIA, BICSI, and sitespecific standards to ensure quality and compliance. * Maintain fire-stop compliance and adhere to all safety protocols on active construction sites. * Support installation of devices such as wireless access points and low-voltage hardware. Top Skills * Cable Installation * Cable Termination * Punchdown * Cable Pulling * Low Voltage (Cat5/Cat6) * Troubleshooting * Wireless Access Point Installation Additional Qualifications * Ability to work independently and within team environments on active construction job sites. * Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and cable testing equipment. * Basic understanding of low-voltage systems, structured cabling, and electrical safety. * Strong attention to detail for labeling, documentation, and highquality terminations. * Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces. * Reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally to various project locations. * Professional communication skills and ability to interact with clients, site supervisors, and team members. * Willingness to learn advanced cabling and fiber techniques and continue developing within the telecom industry. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oak Ridge, TN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
