As an Access Control Officer in a busy healthcare location, you will monitor entrances and sensitive areas, verify credentials, manage visitor flow, and conduct routine patrols to help reduce security-related incidents. You will stay visible, respond to concerns with calm professionalism, and deliver clear communication and customer service to patients, visitors, and staff. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and vendors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Control access at designated entrances by verifying identification, issuing temporary visitor credentials, and directing authorized persons to the appropriate destination.
  • Monitor and manage visitor flow to patient care areas by following check-in requirements, visiting hours guidance, and restricted area protocols.
  • Operate access control systems and related equipment such as badge readers, door controls, and visitor management logs in accordance with site procedures.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including addressing unauthorized entry attempts and reporting concerns through the established chain of communication.
  • Support hospital staff with security-related escorts, including walking visitors to approved areas and assisting with lost and found persons inquiries.
  • Help to reduce risk by observing for suspicious activity, unattended items, and policy violations, then documenting and reporting per post orders.
  • Assist with de-escalation during tense interactions in public areas, waiting rooms, and entry points, and request additional support when needed.
  • Complete detailed activity reports, incident reports, and access logs, maintaining attention to confidentiality expectations for a healthcare location.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around entrances, lobbies, parking areas, and the perimeter when assigned. Working environments and conditions may vary by client site.
  • Participate in emergency procedures such as fire alarms, medical emergency notifications, and facility incident codes by following site instructions and coordinating with responding teams.
  • Communicate clearly with Allied Universal supervision, site leadership, and local responders using radios, phones, and/or other approved communication methods.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be vaccinated as required for a hospital site.
  • Be able to restrain individuals.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
