Job Description




As a Security Officer - Marine Terminal in San Diego, CA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer at a government location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, stay visible to help to deter security-related incidents, and support access points with clear communication and customer service. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to the client by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government waterfront location.
  • Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of buildings, docks, parking areas, and perimeter fencing, noting unusual activity, hazards, and maintenance concerns.
  • Control access at designated entry points by checking identification, verifying authorized access, and directing visitors, vendors, and contractors according to site procedures.
  • Monitor cameras, alarms, gates, and other site systems when assigned, and report suspicious activity and/or operational issues through approved channels.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including disputes, unauthorized access attempts, and requests for assistance.
  • Document activities, incidents, and observations in daily reports and electronic logs, including times, locations, actions taken, and notifications made.
  • Communicate with site personnel, visitors, and public agency partners as needed, using radios and phones to coordinate responses and share timely updates.
  • Assist with traffic and pedestrian flow during peak periods, events, or operational changes, helping to reduce congestion and support orderly movement.
  • Support security-related screening and inspection procedures when assigned, such as verifying deliveries, checking vehicle credentials, and observing restricted areas.
  • Participate in post orders, briefings, and required training, and follow Allied Universal standards while maintaining a professional presence.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess a TSA issued TWIC.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a primarily driving post is preferred.
  • A guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
