- Client's IT team is seeking a Senior Systems Analyst with strong analytical skills and attention to detail to provide support converting legacy Cognos reports to Power BI.
- The successful candidate will need to be an expert in all aspects of the System Analyst role. The ideal candidate will possess an exceptional understanding of the SA skillset and toolset and have a solid understanding of modern computing technologies.
- The candidate will need to be able to collaborate successfully with clients to understand their business needs and can convert their requirements into system specifications.
- The ability to effectively communicate (written, verbal, presentation) with internal business partners, IT personnel, and external service providers is critical to success in this role.
- The successful candidate will develop new and innovative processes to facilitate the move of clients into the exciting opportunity with wind energy.
Duties include:
- Function as a consultant to our internal business partners regarding technology and process solutions.
- Facilitate finding, developing, and implementing viable technology solutions for our business partners by working with teammates, IT groups within the company, external service providers, and business partners.
- Provide guidance to our internal business partners by knowing what technologies are available to solve complex requirements.
- Interface with internal business partners, IT groups, and external service providers to implement new systems and modify existing systems.
- Facilitate and lead requirements workshops.
- Functionally deconstruct, analyze, and document our internal business partners' systems, problems, processes, and needs.
- Define business requirements and test cases using structured methodologies.
- Effectively lead documentation of business requirements, test cases, use cases, and design thinking exercises.
- Provide written and verbal updates on projects and solutions to IT and business management.
- Develop and deliver training on new or revised system functionality to raise awareness, educate users, and support personnel.
Top Required Skills:
- Prior experience with systems migration - ability to review current environments, plan migration strategy, build new reports, test and validate new reports.
- Experience with Power BI Desktop.
- Experience with Power BI Report Builder - Power BI Semantic model.
- Medium to advanced SQL writing abilities.
What soft skill requirements do you have (team fit and personality requirements)?
- Excellent Communication skills is a must. Must be confident collaborating with Business for analysis, feedback, giving presentation, etc.
- Ability to lead, collaborate, or work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams.
Education:
- Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalency (Required).
Required Years of Experience:
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Senior Systems Analyst.
Required Proven experience with:
- Report Builder.
- Power BI Desktop.
- Experience using Power BI Semantic model in Report Builder Report.
- Medium to Advanced SQL writing.
- Report conversions.
- Immigrations status.
Optional experience with:
- Power Automate.
- Cognos.
- Reports conversion from Cognos to Power BI.
Are there any specific companies/industries you'd like to see in the candidate's experience?
- Experience in information Technology, a business/technology consulting firm, or a utility business group.
- IT experience in a large-scale environment, across multiple hardware and software platforms, or business unit experience that includes working closely with IT in the development and implementation of large-scale systems.
