Individual and Family Plans (IFP) is a growing business within UnitedHealthcare. The marketing communications manager on the Communication Strategy & Operations team within IFP is responsible for the development and managing of our product marketing communication strategy. This role will be responsible for partnering with our product team and marketing leadership to develop our product and IFP brand communication strategy, lead relevant consumer research projects, develop marketing communication strategy including any value-based care initiatives, be the lead SME for reviews, and create and deploy copy & disclaimers to the full marketing organization. This individual will also play the liaison between marketing and product, and one part of that responsibility will be to lead our quarterly business reviews with them. The ideal candidate will thrive in a highly matrixed work environment with a high degree of individual responsibility and solid collaboration skills. The Marketing Communication Manager will report & work directly with the Director of Communication Strategy & Operations. This role will work most closely with the marketing leadership, product, legal, pharmacy, VBC partners, and the full marketing team.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Managing consumer insights and research as it relates to product and brand communication
  • Develop marketing communication strategy for the IFP products, benefits, and features
  • Partner with agencies/copy writers to develop the specific product copy (copydeck including playbooks) to be used in acquisition and member marketing materials
  • Be the lead POC for Marketing on all strategic, cross-functional initiatives (ex. VBC, ICHRA, etc.). Partner with marketing leadership to be the key create the value proposition and GTM strategy for any VBC/strategic partnerships, as well as lead communication development for the same
  • Partner with ACQ and MEM teams on member testimonials
  • Work closely with legal to ensure communication is compliant with legal guidelines
  • Partner to ensure deliverables from external partners (e.g., ad agencies) are aligned with applicable marketing goals, strategies, and initiatives
  • Cultivate relationships with applicable internal business partners to drive support, understanding and collaboration on our marketing efforts (e.g., Product Strategy, Legal/Compliance, Creative Services)
  • Demonstrate understanding of applicable business strategies/goals and how they can address customer requirements and marketing efforts

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in B2B and B2C/DTC brand management, marketing communications, product marketing
  • Experience working on brand strategy development and brand communication strategy
  • Experience working with cross-functional marketing research and insights team and leading consumer research projects
  • Experience in brand and product messaging and copy development
  • Proven strategic and analytic thinker
  • Proven excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with the ability to cross technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven attention to detail within context of campaign and communication development
  • Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Demonstrated track record of establishing effective cross-functional partnerships and relationships at all levels in a highly collaborative environment
  • Experience in fast-paced, complex project management, and an ability to juggle shifting timelines and priorities
  • Ability to be a team player with a solid ability to form working professional relationships
  • Proven outstanding communication skills (persuasive written, oral, and presentation skills)
  • Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
