Customized Solutions CNC Operator | 2nd Shift

Summary:

Van Meter is looking for a CNC Operator to join our Customized Solutions team on 2nd shift. This role is hands-on, detail-focused, and critical to delivering high-quality custom solutions for our customers.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

• Review job packets, drawings, and work orders for accuracy
• Convert approved drawings into Steinhauer CNC machine software
• Operate the Steinhauer CNC machine to produce parts to specification
• Inspect first-run and in-process parts using precision measuring tools
• Load/unload materials (manual or forklift)
• Run test samples and adjust machine settings as needed
• Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance
• Identify and communicate quality, design, or production issues
• Support continuous improvement and maintain a clean, organized workspace

Critical Success Factors:

• CNC machine operating experience (preferred)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Experience using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools
• Comfortable working independently and making sound decisions
• Forklift certification (or ability to obtain)

Job Requirements/Specifications:

Qualification preferred:

• Technical training or relevant manufacturing experience
• CNC machine operating experience
• CAD familiarity

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
• Mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining concepts
• Comfort with computers and production software
• Experience using precision measurement tools
• Forklift certification (or ability to become certified)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and 70 lbs occasionally

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

• Occasional crawling, driving, wet environment, working outdoors, electrical hazards, fumes, odors and mists.
• Some sitting, climbing, balancing, kneeling and humid environment.
• Frequent carrying, pushing, bending at the waist, twisting upper body, crouching, working with fingers, talking, hearing, vision acuity near, vision acuity-far, depth perception, field of vision, vision adjustment, color vision, team lifting, working alone, working with others, customer contact, non-standard shift work, extended day, cold, heat, temperature changes, confined area, high places and dusts.
• Consistent standing, walking, lifting, reaching, working with hands, noise, vibration, working indoors and mechanical hazards.
