Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Maintenance General Laborer . Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.

Job Summary:

Provides essential support for the Facility and the Maintenance Department by performing various basic tasks. The primary duties involve serving as a basic handyman, assisting maintenance technicians as instructed, and managing general groundskeeping duties. This is an entry-level role with significant opportunities for growth into other maintenance positions.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Under the direction of maintenance leadership, safely carries out basic tasks for the facility and its internal customers.

2. Under the guidance of trained technicians and appropriate training, assists technicians in performing tasks safely.

3. Cleans, maintains, and organizes maintenance department, equipment, tools, and hardware as instructed.

4. As instructed, cleans up work areas that may have dust, dirt, and debris created from maintenance work completed.

5. Adheres to safety practices and procedures, including proper safety shoes, protective eyewear, and hearing protection.

6. Follows procedures as defined by Fike policies, procedures and ISO9001 requirements.

7. Supports other duties such as housekeeping/trash pickup as agreed upon by Facilities and Maintenance leadership.

8. May also perform the following duties as needed: painting, drywall repair, basic plumbing, landscaping upkeep, basic building repairs.

Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee will need to regularly use hands for fine motor skills (fingering, handling, feeling), talking, and hearing. Frequent physical activity including standing, reaching, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Must be able to safely lift or move over 100 pounds using appropriate moving or lifting devices. Potential exposure to certain hazardous environments, requiring the use of appropriate protective equipment. Occasional exposure to high decibel noise. Assisting maintenance technicians near general Fike utility services, guarded moving mechanical parts, or electrical components. Safe operation of equipment such as forklifts, maintenance trucks, lawn mowers, blowers, and other necessary support tools.

Job Qualifications:

REQUIRED: High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read, interpret work instructions, and work orders. Ability to follow instructions and guidance. Must provide your own appropriate basic hand tools (list will be provided by maintenance leadership).

PREFERRED: Exposure to housekeeping and maintenance duties. Knowledge of Salesforce and JDE.
