Position Description

In a non-supervisory capacity, this position is responsible for the administration and coordination of Convention Center human resource activities. This position provides support to management in talent acquisition, onboarding, coordinating employee programs and events, training, communicating information, serving as a cultural ambassador and resource to staff for questions and providing assistance as needed. This position requires a strong commitment to a high level of customer service. This position currently works on-site only. Office hours: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Job Duties and Responsibilities

HIRING
- Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and on-boarding process for the MCC.
- Provide assistance to the MCC hiring process activities to ensure timely hires.
- Serve as the liaison with the City Human Resources Dept.
- Utilize applicant tracking system (NeoGov) to post MCC positions, develop reports, and maintain all talent acquisition related data.
- Conduct MCC new hire orientation as needed.
- Develop an understanding of the City hiring process to ensure talent acquisition and selection is following City process and procedures
SUPPORT ENGAGED WORKFORCE

Manage all submissions and responses to the suggestion box. -
Assist the Business Services Manager in the creation of teambuilding activities. -
Perform a variety of tasks related to employee communication including creating an employee newsletter, updating bulletin boards, updating information for the employee web page, preparing and distributing the daily message and reporting goal results. -
Schedule and coordinate employee events including producing employee presentation for all staff meetings, communication information, coordinating event logistics such as securing space, coordinating speaker needs, ordering supplies and refreshments, creating name tags, and producing training materials. -
Support employees with administrative inquiries and answering questions. -
Assist the Business Services Manager in the creation of training programs. Prepare training presentations, schedule and promote trainings, and maintain training attendance.
COMPLIANCE
- Maintain all workers compensation reports.
- Compile and route accident reports, evidence, or materials as required for the use of City departments.
- Maintain employee records.
PAYROLL DATA AND MAINTAINENCE
- Update and maintain information in the City of Minneapolis Enterprise Technology (COMET) software.
- Work with the City Human Resources Department to ensure the accuracy of data.
EVALUATION
- Provide tracking and assistance to the managers for the performance evaluation program.
- Assist the Business Service Manager in developing feedback instruments to ensure programs are valuable to staff and support a culture focused on hospitality and service.
- Assist in the evaluation of programs.
- Develop surveys and provide analysis of the results/feedback.
- Produce reports and recommendations.
ADMINISTRATIVE
- Coordinate all aspects of employee uniforms.
- Process correspondence, reports, staff reimbursements, and various other materials and reports related to employee and employment activities.
- Assist in the coordination of all MCC employee recognition and engagement programs.
- Order supplies for the MCC as needed.
- Participate in committees as assigned and represent the MCC at meetings as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Post High School education or equivalent MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Three years of related work experience in Human Resources or Customer Service. EQUIVALENCY An equivalent combination of education and experience closely related to the duties of the position MAY be considered. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: N/A
Selection Process:
The selection process will consist of one or more of the following steps: a rating of relevant education and experience and an oral examination (100%). It is important that your application show all the relevant education and experience you possess. This information will be used to determine which candidates will proceed in the selection process. A submitted application is also used to verify the answers to any supplemental questions. Only those candidates who attain a passing score (70%) on each step in the selection process will be placed on the eligible list. The City of Minneapolis Human Resources Department reserves the right to limit the number in any phase of the selection process.
Background Check:
The City has determined that a criminal background check and qualifications check may be necessary for certain positions with this job title. Applicants may be required to sign an informed consent form allowing the City to obtain their criminal history and/or verify their qualifications in connection with the position sought. Applicants who do not sign the informed consent form will not be further considered for the position.

Eligible List Statement:
The names of applicants who meet minimum qualification and who pass the screening process shall be placed on the eligible list for employment consideration. This list will be certified to the hiring manager who may use the list to fill a vacancy of the same job title. This eligible list will expire 3 months after it has been established.
Interview Selection:
The hiring authority reserves the right to determine the maximum number of candidates to interview from the established eligible list. If the hiring authority decides to interview other than by exam score order, they may select additional people to interview based on a candidate's education or experience related to the field, work history, or skills uniquely related to the operational needs of the position.

* Considerable knowledge of modern office practices, clerical and administrative procedures and equipment. * Considerable knowledge of the techniques of gathering, compiling and analyzing data. * Considerable knowledge of departmental or division policies and procedures. * Good oral and written communication skills. * Good keyboarding skills. * Ability to maintain good working relationships with a diverse population. * Ability to take and transcribe minutes of meetings and compose correspondence, reports, brochures, etc. * Good knowledge of modern record keeping and database practices, including complex filing operations. * Patience for frequent interruptions with the ability to multitask and deal with competing deadlines. * Excellent computer aptitude and skills. Ability to effectively work in multiple and specialized computer applications (NeoGov, Ungerboeck, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, PeopleSoft, etc.) * Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of departments.
