Position Description

A Master Schedulercreates and manages comprehensive production or project schedules, balancing demand forecasts with resource availability (materials, labor, machinery) to ensure efficient operations, meet deadlines, and control inventory, often usingERP/APS software(like SAP, Oracle) and collaborating across departments like sales, procurement, and production to optimize workflows and mitigate risks. Key duties include forecasting, planning capacity, monitoring performance, and communicating schedule changes. This position reports to the Chiller MP&L Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule Development: Create and manage theMaster Production Schedule (MPS)orIntegrated Master Schedule (IMS), balancing customer demand with plant capacity and material availability.
  • Capacity Planning: ConductRough-Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP)to identify potential bottlenecks in labor, machinery, or warehouse space months in advance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: LeadSales and Operations Planning (S&OP)meetings to align sales forecasts, procurement, and manufacturing departments.
  • Inventory Management: Set and maintain inventory targets for raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods to prevent both stockouts and overstock.
  • System Maintenance: Ensure data integrity withinERP/MRP systems(e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) by managing lead times, lot sizes, and safety stock levels.
  • Risk Mitigation: Develop contingency plans and "work-around" schedules to handle unforeseen disruptions like equipment failure or supply shortages.
  • Forecasting & Planning:Use demand forecasts and capacity data to plan production levels.
  • Resource Management:Coordinate raw materials, labor, and machine availability with production needs.
  • Monitoring & Analysis:Track progress, analyze performance, identify risks, and resolve conflicts.
  • Reporting:Prepare status reports and communicate schedule updates.
  • Process Improvement:Evaluate success and streamline scheduling processes.
Required Education & Qualifications

* Education: A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Business Administration is typically required. Individuals with 10+ years of MP&L leadership will be considered in lieu of formal degree.
* Technical Proficiency: Expert-level use of ERP/MRP software and advanced scheduling tools like Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or Kinaxis.
* Analytical Prowess: Ability to interpret complex datasets, perform trend analysis, and calculate mathematical manufacturing process requirements.
* Technical: Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle), APS software, Excel, and BI tools.
* Soft Skills: Strong analytical, communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
* Core Competencies: Problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to work cross-functionally.

Role in the Organization
* Strategic Focus: Concentrates on long-term, high-level planning (e.g., entire factories).
* Operational Alignment: Ensures supply meets demand, balancing costs, inventory, and customer service.
