Hiring Range:

$127,587.20 - $160,763.20

UMass Memorial Health, the largest healthcare system in Central Massachusetts and clinical partner of UMass Chan Medical School, is seeking a skilled and compassionate Hematology/Oncology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our growing Hematology/Oncology Division. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment with access to the latest technology, research, and clinical trials. Our division is part of a Cancer Center of Excellence, dedicated to integrating clinical care and clinical investigation in state-of-the-art facilities.

We are seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our team at our HealthAlliance campus in Leominster, working alongside a group of board-certified physicians and advanced practitioners in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Major Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, formulating diagnoses and treatment plans for a wide range of hematologic and oncologic conditions.

  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests (labs, imaging) and adjust treatment plans accordingly.

  • Manage treatment protocols for chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and other supportive care measures.

  • Provide education and counseling to patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, and prognosis.

  • Address and manage treatment-related side effects and complications.

  • Participate in daily inpatient rounds, examine patients, review lab data, and record daily progress notes.

  • Perform bedside or clinical procedures as defined in the Delineation of Privileges.

Autonomy and Team-Based Care:

  • Work Independently: Take full responsibility for managing patient care on certain days, making autonomous clinical decisions related to diagnoses, treatment plans, and patient management.

  • Independent Clinical Decision-Making: Ability to prioritize and manage complex hematology and oncology cases independently, exercising sound judgment in high-pressure situations.

  • Collaborative Care: On other days, collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team with APPs, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, sharing decision-making responsibilities and ensuring comprehensive care.

  • Balance of Autonomy & Teamwork: Flexibility to transition between independent clinical decision-making and collaborative teamwork depending on the needs of the patients and the team.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate patient records, including medical history, diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress notes, in compliance with clinic policies and regulatory standards.

Education & Professional Development:

  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in hematology and oncology through continuous learning and professional development.

  • Participate in ongoing training and certification as required.

Position Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program with a Master's Degree

  • Current Massachusetts license (issued by the Physician Assistant Board or Board of Registration in Nursing).

  • NP or PA certification

Experience:

  • Experience in hematology/oncology preferred but not required.

  • Willing to train new graduates with a passion for patient care in hematology and oncology.
