SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of a professional registered nurse, clinical manager, or licensed independent practitioner and within office practice policies and procedures, performs a variety of activities to provide nursing care to patients. The core Success Factors include: Instill Trust and Value Differences Patient and Community Focus and Collaborate RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborates with the professional registered nurse, clinical manager, or licensed independent practitioner for plan of care. Documents data collection and observations in the medical record. * Plans and manages patient care according to each patient's needs. * Interviews patients and records their medical history and physical condition. * Obtains patient vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration. * Provides routine care for patients. * Administer medications, clean and dress wounds and assist with other basic medical care tasks * Observes patients' health. * Reviews medical charts. * Assists physicians and registered nurses. * Communicates with patients and their families. * Performs standard diagnostic procedures as such EKG, PFT, and Doppler. Maintains quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control, in accordance with established hospital department policies, procedures, and objectives. Performs other duties, as necessary. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing with current licensed to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Rhode Island . In each step of the care process, demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: * Completed state-approved LPN education program * Current LPN license to practice * Valid CPR certification * Previous clinical or healthcare experience * Strong knowledge of computers; adept at data entry * Excellent observation skills with high attention to detail * Excellent oral and written communication skills * BLS certification * 1-2 years recent nursing experience, preferred. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Prolonged standing and walking. Exposed to all patient elements. May be required to lift/turn patients and equipment. Repeated bending, squatting, stooping. INDEPENDENT ACTION: Performs related routine duties as prescribed in the Nurse Practice Act of the state of Rhode Island, and in conjunction within hospital and Department of Nursing policies and procedures. Plans and organizes priorities for effective patient care within the scope of existing departmental policies, generally refers specific problems to supervisor where clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None.
