What to Expect
Tesla is currentlyseekinga motivated andaccomplishedIndustrial Engineer who will be the owner of Industrial Engineering initiatives for Energy products manufacturing operations. This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the world-class manufacturing facility in Buffalo, New York, working in a demanding and fast-paced environment to improve critical subsystems of an exciting product. The teamis responsible forsustaining, ramping, and improving business critical new product lines through collaboration with Production, Manufacturing Process Engineering and Development, Material Flow Engineering, Supply Chain, Construction and Facilities teams. Innovation and grit are expected. Through a detailed understanding of sales and demand planningobjectivesand extensive collaboration with internal and external teams developing individual components, this teams ensures that the overall operational excellence and achieves all of Tesla'sobjectives.

What You'll Do
  • Manage capacity planning standards for all energy product manufacturing lines

  • Create operating plans for all production lines, including labor requirements, break strategies, and shift schedules

  • Conduct options analysis for existing line optimization and new line installations and estimate resource requirements for factory footprint expansion projects

  • Work with internal operations and management teams to define scenarios for growth and formulate improvement strategies to help with product ramp

  • Perform capacity studies and static sensitivity analyses toidentifyfactorsimpactingline throughput (OEE, Headcount, number of material handling equipment) and make recommendations for improvement

  • Perform discrete event simulation modeling and statistical modeling to influence key business decisions

  • Management and development of factory staffing models used to develop site level staffing plans

  • Lead continuous improvementinitiatives utilizingKaizen and 5S methodologies

  • Design assembly line, support space, and amenity area layouts using quantitative and qualitative evaluation techniques tofacilitatesmooth operations andoptimizecost/sqft

  • Lead projects to efficientlyallocatespace inside and outside the factory to support value-added and support team operations


What You'll Bring
  • 4+ years' experience in Industrial Engineering or equivalent relevant experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to drive projects with diverse teams in a manufacturing environment

  • Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines

  • Extensive experience with Excel Macros (VBA a plus)

  • Experience with automated/semi-automated manufacturing lines and robotics is a plus

  • Distinguishing experiences/skills: 2D CAD, Revit, lean manufacturing, work measurement, analytics (SQL, Tableau), discrete event simulation (FlexSIM), operations research, lean manufacturing, scale manufacturing experience, MOST,Modapts

  • Ability to self-manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines

  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills

    Expected Compensation
    • Associate Industrial Engineer - $72,000 - $108,000/annual salary
    • Industrial Engineer - $86,400 - $129,600/annual salary
    + cash and stock awards + benefits for all levels

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
