DataBank is looking for a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Tax Associate to join the tax team. The Tax Associate will be responsible for supporting the Tax Director and the wider team with compliance with tax regulations, maintaining thorough tax records for the organization, compiling reports, helping to review and answer internal and external queries.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Tax Director with ensuring relevant federal, state, and local tax returns, and supporting documentation is filed accordingly as well as assisting to manage, timelines for sign off.
  • Maintain comprehensive tax records and financial data for internal use and audits.
  • Create additional documentation when necessary, including tax reports and trackers for internal review.
  • Assist with preparing responses to incoming mail from Federal, State, and local jurisdictions.
  • Assist with the management of the sales and use tax systems/processes, including sales tax exemptions.
  • Maintain accurate financial tax records, including but not limited to- balance sheet account reconciliations, documentation of all paid for taxes and support for any required analysis.
  • Assist the team with providing Tax Journal Entries to Accounting for input and approval.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Accounting and bookkeeping skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage time effectively

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in accounting, finance, or related field
  • One or more years of experience in tax preparation, finance, or accounting
  • Experience with software/applications such as Microsoft Excel, NetSuite, Tipalti, DBoss
