Application close date: Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed. At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.As a member of a dedicated team of engineers, you will lead a group responsible for developing engineering solutions, as well as designing and implementing installation plans for electrical harnesses in various spaceflight systems. You will influence the team's contribution to the broader avionics strategy. In your role as an Avionics Cable Harness Senior Manager, you will oversee the design of electrical harnesses crucial for power distribution, RF, communication, and high-speed data signals. This involves selecting components and hardware, such as connectors, backshells, cables, and wires. Furthermore, you will manage strategies for EMI/RFI application and harness shielding, and generate 3D routed harness data files using Creo Cabling and internal tools. You will also supervise the creation of detailed harness and installation drawings, including 2D flat harness drawings derived from 3D data sets. You will be required to provide engineering support to the vehicle production floor, capturing feedback, offering technical direction, and implementing production improvements, as well as supporting other production needs. You will assist in design configuration development and trade studies, offering technical guidance for hardware installation. Your role includes supporting the assembly and testing of cables and harnesses, maintaining and reporting on activity schedules and technical status, and identifying opportunities for operational cost and schedule improvements. You will coordinate and manage plans and schedules related to harness and installation drawing releases to ensure their correct execution. Mentorship of less experienced team members is expected, including performance evaluations and support for individual development plans. Additionally, you will maintain the team's good spirit and focus, and drive necessary updates and changes to our designs and tools. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight.
