Specialist, Accounting & Payroll (Temporary)

As the successful candidate, you will -

Be responsible for supporting payroll, HRIS, and benefit operations by posting and reconciling the payroll and benefit information into the accounting software, supporting payroll and benefits reporting, supporting audits, and closely partnering with the accounting and human resources (HR) teams to ensure compliance with organizational policies, applicable regulatory requirements, and ensuring timely resolution resulting in a positive user experience.

Key Responsibilities -

Payroll & Benefits Accounting Administration -



  • Prepare and post general ledger entries for each payroll run
  • Assist with the accounting close period processes by preparing payroll accruals, reconciling payroll-related balance sheet


accounts, and ensuring accurate financial reporting



  • Ensure all payroll disbursements, direct deposits, benefits, and taxes are entered into the accounting system on a timely


basis



  • Work with the accounting team, on any variances of activity posted to the bank, and entered into the accounting system
  • Participate in internal and external payroll audits by gathering, validating, and organizing payroll data, timekeeping records,


and supporting documentation



  • Research variances, improve data accuracy, and maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Support payroll and HR team as information is provided to payroll provider so they can prepare payroll tax filings and year-


end reporting



  • Support year-end processes including W-2 communications, distribution, and tax filings


Benefits & Compliance Administration -



  • Reconcile benefit elections with vendor invoices, verifying accuracy, entering into system, before processing and submitting


payments

Other -



  • Assume additional responsibilities, to support Modern Aviation's evolving business objectives

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements and Preferred Qualifications -



  • Four-year degree in accounting
  • Some exposure to accounting principles
  • High proficiency in Excel
  • Strong numerical aptitude, attention to detail, and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in payroll calculations and data entry
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask, meet critical deadlines, prioritize in a fast-paced environment, and exercise independent judgment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effectively interacting with all levels of the organization and explaining complex payroll matters
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism
  • A valid driver's license, is required


Working Conditions and Physical Demands -



  • Constantly operates a computer and periodically move around the office to access office machinery, e.g., copy machine
  • Possess the ability to communicate information and ideas so others understand
