Job Description




As a Security Officer - Access Control in Detroit, MI, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Utilities, and more. As an Allied Universal Security Officer supporting a utilities location, you will help monitor and patrol assigned areas, perform routine checks, and stay visible to help deter security-related incidents. You will communicate clearly with site personnel and visitors while supporting access control and incident reporting. This is a driving post requiring a valid driver's license under AU Driver Policy Requirements, backed by an agile, reliable, innovative team that puts people first and acts with integrity.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to personnel and visitors by following Allied Universal security-related procedures, site-specific policies and/or emergency response activities at a utilities location.
  • Monitor access points, verify identification and/or work authorizations as required, and maintain visitor, contractor and/or delivery logs in accordance with site requirements.
  • Respond to alarms, incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and escalate to site leadership and/or emergency services when appropriate.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of utility buildings, operational areas and perimeter boundaries to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify hazards or suspicious conditions.
  • Complete detailed reports on incidents, inspections, patrols and notable activity, and communicate status updates to Allied Universal supervision and/or site contacts.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
