Description

The Maintenance Tech I will perform daily preventative and reactive maintenance activities which are essential in keeping our equipment operating efficiently / effectively to produce quality product to meet our customer's requirements as well as project work as needed.

This full-time position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and is located at Safco's manufacturing plant in Milford, IA.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair production, ancillary equipment, and buildings/grounds to minimize downtime and ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Complete work order tasks in a timely manner while maintaining an open dialogue with operators and supervision with progress updates of work-in-process and work completed.
  • Complete preventative maintenance per schedule.
  • Comply with quality and safety regulations. (ex. LOTO, etc.)
  • Other duties, as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of experience as a maintenance tech/mechanic in manufacturing environment
  • Use inspection equipment and be able to read blueprints
  • A solid understanding of hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic manufacturing equipment is desired
  • Must be able to understand and perform general electrical work and how to read electrical schematics
  • Must be willing to get certification for truck and material handling operations sponsored by Safco
  • Must be detail orientated

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • 2-Year mechanical degree preferred
  • Experience in a wood / metal manufacturing plant a plus
  • Ability to troubleshoot PLC's (computer controls on machines) is preferred
  • Experience working with a formalized preventative maintenance program and software system preferred
  • Prior work experience with JDE/Oracle in a manufacturing environment is preferred

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The starting pay rate for this position is $25.00 per hour. The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of the posting. We may pay above or below posted amount based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and/or certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses.
