Responsibilities NORTON CHILDREN'S NEONATOLOGY, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine, and a part of Norton Children's Medical Group, is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible and fellowship trained neonatologist. The practice is one of the largest neonatology groups in the country, with more than 35 neonatologists, as well as neonatal nurse practitioners, pediatric hospitalists and other providers skilled at caring for newborns and babies with special conditions. The neonatology program receives referrals from throughout Kentucky and Indiana at two neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), including one of the nation's largest Level IV NICUs at Norton Children's Hospital in downtown Louisville. Both NICUs combine elements of private practice with an academic model to foster collaborative relationships among neonatologists, providers, fellows, residents and trainees. Through various partnerships, outreach services also are provided at several Level II and Level III NICUs throughout the region. This position is located at Norton Children's Hospital NICU, a 101-bed level IV NICU, located in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. The NICU is in a freestanding children's hospital and is connected to Norton Hospital, with MFM and a high-risk delivery service. The NICU has about 1,000 admissions per year, both inborn and outborn, and serves as the regional referral center for many hospitals in Kentucky and southern Indiana. We collaborate with pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists to provide care to babies with a wide variety of diagnoses, and provide neonatal ECMO, therapeutic hypothermia for infants with HIE, and care for preoperative complex congenital heart patients. Norton Children's Hospital NICU also has a tiny baby unit, a neuro NICU, and a surgical suite to provide specialized nursing and multidisciplinary care to these high-risk infants. The NICU is staffed in house 24 hours a day with neonatologists, APPs, and trainees, including neonatal fellows and pediatric residents. Qualifications Required:
