Job Description:

LFS, Inc. was established in 1967 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Trident Seafoods. Our corporate headquarters is in Bellingham, WA and we have two year-round locations in Washington State: Bellingham and Seattle. LFS also has five year-round locations in Alaska: Anchorage, Cordova, Dutch Harbor, Homer (Kachemak Gear Shed), and Sitka; and two seasonal locations in Dillingham and Naknek. While our core business is supplying the commercial fishing industry, we have evolved to include industrial and sports netting sales, hydraulic sales and services, wholesale/industrial sales, recreational marine and outdoor sales, and internet sales.

Job Summary: LFS is seeking Gillnet Net Hangers for seasonal work at our Alaska locations. Responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining gillnets used in the commercial fishing operations.

Job Requirements:

Essential Functions:

• Measure, cut, and hang gillnet webbing according to specified mesh size, depth, and length.
• Attach floats, lead lines, cork lines, and other rigging components.
• Repair damaged nets by re-hanging web, patching holes, and replacing worn components.
• Operate net-hanging benches, needles, twine, and other specialized tools.
• Follow company specifications, fishery regulations, and safety protocols.
• Work with skippers, deckhands, and gear managers to meet fleet needs.
• Keep accurate records of completed nets, repairs, and material usage.
• Must be able to stand for 6-8 hours at a time.
• Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines.
• Physical stamina for repetitive handwork and lifting materials.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

This is a seasonal, non-benefited position. No housing or transportation is provided.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• 18 years of age or older
• 1-2 years Gillnet hanging experience
• Ability to stand, bend, lift, and work with hands for extended periods.
• Reliable attendance and positive attitude
• Basic math and measurement skills

Preferred Experience:

• 2-4 years Gillnet hanging experience

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand (6-8 hours a day); walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; push/pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this job include distance vision and depth perception.
