Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Billing Clerk to join our team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate billing and timely claim processing by supporting back-office billing operations, verifying patient and payer information, and resolving claim issues. Key Responsibilities * Review, correct, and edit billing errors to ensure claims are submitted accurately and on time * Identify and resolve issues related to patient demographics, diagnosis codes, payer information, and claim rejections or denials * Collaborate closely with the billing team on back-office billing and verification tasks * Use Excel extensively to update, track, and process patient account information * Research and obtain missing or incomplete information needed to complete patient accounts * Contact current patients via phone or written communication to obtain required account details in a professional and courteous manner * Process paper reports and accurately enter updates into the billing system or EMR * Maintain data accuracy and confidentiality while working with sensitive patient information Skills & Qualifications * Strong attention to detail and accuracy * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Comfortable working in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite * Ability to manage data entry and documentation efficiently * Basic understanding of customer service principles * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Experience with medical billing, hospital billing, or revenue cycle operations * Familiarity with claims processing and denials * Exposure to EMR systems, including Epic (preferred, not required) * Previous office, billing, retail, or customer service experience * Knowledge of accounts payable or healthcare administrative workflows Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rochester, NY. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
