Position Summary The Medical Billing & Insurance FollowUp Specialist is responsible for communicating with patients, government agencies, and thirdparty payers to gather, process, and record information necessary to secure accurate and timely reimbursement. This role focuses heavily on insurance followup, unpaid claims resolution, and appeals, while adhering to established billing procedures and productivity standards. This position works on routine assignments within defined parameters, follows established guidelines and precedents, and receives daily instructions related to work activities. Key Responsibilities * Review, correct, and submit insurance claims to payers using Epic. * Communicate with patients, payers, and internal departments to obtain charge information, coding updates, and documentation needed for claims and appeals. * Review unpaid, denied, and past-due accounts and initiate appropriate collection and followup actions. * Obtain and submit required information to resolve reimbursement issues. * Calculate and process writeoffs, debit adjustments, and credit adjustments as needed. * Complete billing and collection processes and prepare claims for distribution to appropriate sources. * Ensure followup actions are completed and expected reimbursement outcomes are achieved. * Meet or exceed established productivity and quality performance standards. * Provide general office and administrative support as needed. * Perform other jobrelated duties as assigned. Required Qualifications * High School Diploma or GED (required) * Epic billing experience (required) * Strong insurance billing and followup experience * Ability to work within established procedures and guidelines * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Preferred Qualifications * Associate's or Technical Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience * Prior medical billing and collections experience Ideal Candidate Attributes * Hardworking and dependable * Thoughtful, kind, and collaborative * Curious and eager to learn * Selfstarter who takes ownership of responsibilities * Missiondriven and committed once goals and expectations are understood * Strong communicator who works well across teams Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Portland, OR. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
