Job Description The NEAP Facility and System Requirements unit is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer capable of developing and maintaining electrical, instrumentation and controls (I&C), and other facility design requirements for the NEAP project. The candidate will fill the role of requirements owner for their assigned requirements and provide system level design support for the Architect/Engineer (AE) for various NEAP electrical or I&C systems. Collaboration with NNL stakeholders and cross-discipline team members (e.g., HVAC, mechanical, telecom) is essential to ensure system requirements are met. Essential Duties: Requirements Management: Validate that AE designs meet laboratory requirements and update technical changes as needed, including cost estimates for requirement modifications. Design Support: Oversee electrical and I&C infrastructure design during construction, reviewing studies, drawings, and analyses from design agents or contractors. Collaboration: Coordinate with internal and external program organizations to meet project objectives. Training and Mentorship: Educate others on NAVSEA, DOE, and Building Code requirements. Work Planning: Align resources, scope, and risk to meet project schedules and goals. Technical Oversight: Conduct research, design, troubleshooting, and testing of electrical systems. Prepare technical analyses, recommendations, formal correspondences, and presentations for peers and leadership. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or Currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company. Preferred Skills * BS or higher in Electrical Engineering * Experience with power engineering * Experience with major construction project * Experience with requirements management and facility electrical design. * Experience with National Electrical Code NFPA 70 with respect to Lighting Systems, Power distribution systems, Lightning Protection, Grounding, etc. * Experience within the NNPP Program * Strong oral and written communication skills * Experience with design of radiological facilities and hot cell facilities. Pay Range $116,700.00 - $182,400.00 annually Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
