Overview

The Strategic Planning organization at Con Edison is seeking a Data Analyst (2H) to serve as the departments lead for planning and scenario forecasting data products. This role is responsible for end-to-end ownership of critical datasets, dashboards, reporting tools, and for partnering with ETS organization to integrate departmental data with enterprise-wide platforms. In this role, you will help manage data used to analyze electrification trends, emerging technologies, and policy impacts that shape long term investment strategies aligned with CLCPA goals and the Companys clean energy transition. You will develop and maintain datasets, dashboards, and analytical tools that provide critical insights to senior leadership and cross functional partners.

The Data Analyst will operate with a high degree of autonomy, defining data requirements, establishing data quality standards, and delivering analytics products that are relied upon by senior leadership and cross functional teams. This role emphasizes data governance, integration, and scalability, ensuring that planning analytics are accurate, well documented, and aligned with enterprise architecture and reporting standards.

The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, experience working with large datasets, and proficiency in tools such as SQL, Python, or Power BI. You must be able to translate complex findings into clear, actionable insights. Familiarity with utility planning, energy policy, or electrification modeling is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Serve as steward of Strategic Planning data assets, including datasets, metrics, dashboards, and recurring executive reporting. Support scenario modeling, decarbonization pathways, and long-term investment evaluations consistent with CLCPA goals.
  • Lead planning analytics initiatives from concept through production, including prioritization, requirements, delivery, and lifecycle management.
  • Develop advanced dashboards and analytical tools (primarily Power BI) that support planning, forecasting, and performance assessment.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance datasets, data pipelines, and analytical tools that support long range electric system planning.
  • Produce clear dashboards, reports, and visualizations that translate complex data into actionable insights for senior leadership.
  • Conduct rigorous data validation and quality assurance to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of analytical outputs.
  • Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries and reusable database objects supporting analytics and automation.
  • Present analytical findings to cross functional partners and leadership, clearly communicating implications for strategic decision making.
  • Produce and maintain comprehensive documentation for data lineage, assumptions, refresh schedules, and usage guidelines.
  • Experience in processing, manipulating, and analyzing large data sets to extract and organize information in a clear and comprehensive manner.
  • Perform Emergency/Storm Duty as needed. Fieldwork and traveling on nights, weekends, or holidays required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of related work experience or
  • Master's Degree and 2 years of related work experience

  • Master's Degree and 2 years of related work experience
Relevant Work Experience
  • Expert proficiency in tools such as MS SQL /PostgreSQL, Python (i.e. complex joins, performance tuning, reusable objects), required.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, metric definition, and version of truth management, required.
  • Advanced Power BI development: data modeling, DAX, performance optimization, enterprise publishing, required.
  • Proven experience owning production analytics products used by leadership. Design, develop and implement database systems based on requirements, required.
  • Experience working in large enterprise or regulated environments, required.
  • Participate in GIS database design and architecture discussions, Evaluate existing database and recommend improvements for performance efficiency, preferred.
  • Work experience with Oracle Analytics Cloud OAC, preferred.
  • Work experience with Power Apps, Power Automate & Informatica, preferred.
  • Exposure to GIS or spatial datasets for Utility, infrastructure, or asset intensive industry experience (planning, forecasting, load analysis, preferred.

Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able and willing to travel as needed.
  • Must be able to provide off hours support as required.
