Facilities Management (FM) at the University of Virginia is offering an exciting opportunity for an Electrician to contribute to the department's goal of providing consistent, cost-effective, and reliable maintenance and service to University North Grounds Zone customers. This role involves maintaining both historic and modern facilities, including the Darden School of Business, UVA Law School, and the US Military JAG School. The selected candidate acts in critical role in ensuring the electrical systems of these diverse structures function smoothly, while working in occupied building spaces. This position is essential in upholding the quality and reliability of services to support the University community. Electricians are responsible for responding to renovation projects and support to maintenance work orders within North Grounds Zone. They provide labor and technical knowledge for installation and maintenance of building components and mechanical systems while providing a safe environment. Electricians perform work of moderate difficulty which involves repairing, installing, connecting, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment in buildings. Responsibilities:

For this position, the selected candidate will need to complete the required background checks prior to the start date of the position. This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and must be performed fully on-site. Physical Demands: The employee must be able to variously sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, lift, pull, and use both hands-on repetitive tasks (including overhead tasks). The employee must have normal vision and hearing (correctable), and for some areas of employment, color vision and sense of smell.
