ROLE OVERVIEW:

As a Paver/Screed Operator you are responsible to safely operate machine that spreads and levels bituminous paving material on subgrade of highways and streets to
control width, depth, and quality of material being placed.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job) An asterisk (*) indicates essential job functions that cannot be modified in order to fulfill the job requirements.



  1. Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment

  2. Safely and properly perform maintenance on paving machine.



  3. Safely and properly operate adjusting mechanism of paving machine. Bolts extensions to screed to adjust width as needed.



  4. Heat screed at beginning of shift.



  5. Observes distribution of paving material along screed and controls direction of screed.



  6. Clean screed at end of shift



  7. Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations.



  8. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.



  9. Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.).



  10. Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.



  11. Ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.



  12. Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all-unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.



  13. Perform other duties as assigned.




MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)



  1. Over 6 months up to and including 1 year from post high school, work, military, institutional or vocational environment.
  2. Basic knowledge of world events and acceptable interpersonal communication skills
  3. Equipment maintenance & operation
  4. Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, medical card and acceptable driving record.
