ER Trauma Center - Patient Registration Representative This role supports a fastpaced Emergency Room trauma center, serving both adult and pediatric patients. Candidates must be comfortable working in an ER environment where they will be exposed to blood, severe injuries, behavioral health (5150) cases, and critical situations. Every day is different, unpredictable, and impactful. Key Responsibilities * Register patients directly in the ER using computers on wheels * Collect and verify patient demographics and insurance information * Navigate insurance scenarios including selfpay, outofstate coverage, and uninsured patients * Work closely with nurses, physicians, EMTs, firefighters, and hospital administration * Run reports, audit accounts, and assist with insurance followup and copay collection * Remain professional, empathetic, and calm in highstress situations Top Skills Needed * Strong customer service and empathy - must genuinely want to help people in crisis * Reliability and punctuality - attendance is critical in the ER * Professional communication and common sense in sensitive situations Work Environment * On your feet for most of the shift * Maneuvering computers on wheels throughout the ER * Fastpaced, exciting, and often chaotic * High patient volume with constant movement and interaction Schedule * 4 shifts per week, 10hour shifts * Rotating schedule: 2-3 days on / 2-3 days off * Every other weekend required * Shift options: * Day shift: 9:30 AM - 10hour shift * Evening/overnight: 5:00 PM or 3:30 AM - 10hour shift Training * 12 days / 120 hours total * 1 day classroom training * Handson shadowing followed by being shadowed * Repetitive processes, but every patient situation is different * Job aids and SharePoint resources provided Ideal Candidate * Eager to learn and grow in healthcare * Confident, sociable, and a strong team player * Comfortable interacting with clinical staff, emergency responders, and patients under stress * Motivated by service and making a difference during critical moments #prioritywest26 #westpriority26 Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mission Viejo, CA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
