Job Summary/Overview

The Engineering Intern will support the Engineered Solutions Department within the Conveyance business segment of CMCO. This role provides hands-on experience in a fastpaced engineering environment, working closely with a team of Engineers to support customer orders, process improvements, and product development activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Engineers with active customer orders, including design updates, documentation, and technical support.
  • Design and detail parts using CAD tools, ensuring accuracy, manufacturability, and alignment with project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) for engineering projects, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Support the creation, organization, and maintenance of CAD libraries, including standard parts, common components, and templates.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives, helping streamline engineering workflows, documentation standards, and design practices.
  • Assist Engineers on the shop floor as needed, providing support during assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of mechanical components, assemblies, and manufacturing concepts.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to define an issue and evaluate alternative solutions.
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including communication tools (Outlook/Teams), Excel, and Word.

Required Qualifications

  • Current student enrolled in a 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience using CAD software (eg; Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks, Pro-Engineer, UG NX, etc) preferred
