DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Real Estate Appraisal Reviewer, you will review Real Estate and Machinery & Equipment appraisals submitted by field units in an assigned area and provide technical guidance in assuring conformance to accepted appraisal techniques and requirements. Assignments are received in broad outline and completed work is reviewed in order to ensure that results are in adherence to established policies and procedures and in conformance with Pub. 378 Right of Way manual.

You will make determinations of compensable elements of damages that are normally made along with, before, and after values, and estimates of damages. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of appraisal review functions as described in Chapter 2 of Pub. 378, the Right of Way Manual, as you will be tasked with performing appraisal reviews and other related responsibilities within a specified area. District needs may adjust the assigned areas as needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is located in Harrisburg's Central Office, but floats across a region, with office space assigned in an appropriate geographical area.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 50% of the work schedule. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a General Real Estate Appraiser (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of professional real estate appraisal experience which includes one year appraising all types of real property for public use.

Special Requirements:

  • All positions require possession of an active Pennsylvania Certified General Appraiser certification.
  • All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Other Requirements:
