JOB SUMMARY

To setup and operate multi-axis, numerically controlled CNC Mill/Lathe, and Manual Mill/Lathe machines to cut and shape metallic and nonmetallic work pieces. Selects and positions work piece on machine bed. Compares numerical data displays with specifications on operation sheets, and uses scales and gauges. Utilizing the machines required in a safe and effective manner, while abiding by company productivity, quality and safety standards.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fabricating parts.
  • Inspecting parts for quality.
  • Reviewing and interpreting drawings.
  • Read and interpret detailed Mechanical drawings.
  • Proficiently operate and utilize manual mill and lathe.
  • Perform various machine setups without assistance.
  • Proficiently set up and operate CNC machine.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Familiar with basic measuring tools (i.e. calipers, scale, protractor, micrometer, radius gauges and other dimensional scales).
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in the use of basic shop tools and machines such as; Sanders, Sand blasters, Radial Arm Saw, Horizontal and Vertical Radial Saws and buffers.
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Successful demonstration of General Factory I skills
  • Demonstrate ability to read and interpret detailed Mechanical drawings.
  • Proficiently operate and utilize manual mill and lathe.
  • Computer proficient (to pull drawings)
  • Perform various machine setups without assistance.
  • Average proficiency setting up and operating CNC machine.
  • Maintain acceptable production rate while not sacrificing quality of work.
  • Meet customer and company quality standards.
  • Must develop a good understanding of company quality standards.
  • Must be able to provide accurate "time required" estimates.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Maintain very low rework and first pass rejects
  • Optimize setups on machines.
  • Must constantly strive to exceed company standards relative to quality and production.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must adhere to all company safety standards.
  • Must provide support to other departments on an as needed basis.
  • Day to day work assignments may increase in complexity
  • Continuously Improve the overall strength of the team and avoid complacency

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required Education / Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience on one of the machines required or 5-10 years on similar equipment.
  • An Industry Certification or Technical Certificate may be substituted in lieu of the minimum required experience.
