The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Our team includes specialists who are renowned for diagnosing and treating skin cancer, autoimmune and inflammatory skin diseases, acne, skin infections, and pediatric conditions, as well as confidence-boosting cosmetic procedures. For more than a century, Columbia Dermatology has been at the forefront of developing novel treatments for human disease - from pioneering work in the early use of ionizing radiation and developing the groundbreaking technique of photopheresis to help patients with cutaneous T cell lymphoma to the development of Janus kinase inhibitors for the treatment of alopecia areata, an autoimmune form of hair loss.

The Department of Dermatology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center invites applicants for a full-time Nurse Practitioner position, with a predominant focus on Clinical Dermatology and Cosmetics to join our ColumbiaDoctors site located on our main campus in Washington Heights, with potential for practice in midtown Manhattan or the future Westchester campus

In this role, you will serve as a trusted clinician for patients for their general dermatologic and cosmetic needs working with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities



  • Evaluate patients' skin health history.
  • Perform physical examinations focusing on the skin.
  • Diagnose various skin conditions and diseases such as acne, dermatitis, skin cancer, etc.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications or treatments for skin ailments.
  • Perform minor dermatological procedures such as biopsies, cryotherapy, or chemical peels and cosmetic procedures.
  • Collaborate with dermatologists and other healthcare professionals for complex cases.
  • Educate patients about preventative care for skin health.
  • Provide post-treatment and post-operative care instructions.
  • Maintain patient records and documentation.
  • Stay updated on latest advancements in dermatology.
  • Advise patients on lifestyle changes to improve skin health.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Nurse Practitioners: Master's Degree of Nursing or equivalent in education.
  • 3 years of nursing or related experience.


Minimum certification required upon start date:



  • NYS RN and NP Licenses.
  • ANCC or AANP Board Certification.
  • BLS Certification.
  • NYS DEA Certification.


Preferred Qualifications



  • 2-3 years of clinical experience as an NP/PA, preferably in Medical Dermatology and Cosmetics.


Other Requirements



  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
