Job Summary:

Join the Division of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz as a Research Services Clinical Sciences Professional with primary roles as an interdisciplinary team member of the CU Medicine GUIDE Dementia program and a research team member involved in geriatrics health research, focusing on dementia care and caregiving. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a national initiative to improve care, coordination, and support for individuals living with dementia and their caregivers. This role also has opportunities to advance research and care delivery to improve patient outcomes, dementia care, and caregiving.

Day-to-day responsibilities may include direct patient care as a care navigator, coordinating study activities, assisting with participant engagement and documentation, maintaining research data, and supporting quality improvement initiatives tied to dementia care delivery. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with clinical teams, researchers, and program staff while working on meaningful projects at the intersection of clinical care and research to improve the lives of older adults and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage own caseload as the primary point of contact for dyads (person living with dementia and identified care partner).

  • Provide education and support around dementia and what to expect.

  • Screen for unmet care needs including clinical or medication issues, behavioral issues, safety risks, and psychosocial well-being.

  • Provide connections to local community services and guide through advance care planning.

  • Consult with and triage complex or medical issues to the interprofessional clinical team members, such as a nurse, social worker, pharmacist, or medical practitioner.

  • Conduct in-home assessments of aligned dyads in GUIDE.

  • Use own transportation to visit dyad home for evaluation of environmental function and safety.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record, documenting assessment, suggestions, and reporting any concerns.

  • Communicate effectively with persons with dementia, family care partners and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.

  • Participate in geriatrics health research.

  • Assist the principal investigator in research activities and administrative tasks.

Work Location:

Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of # days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Entry Level:

  • Bachelor's degree in any field.

Intermediate Level:

  • Bachelor's degree in any field.

  • One (1) year clinical research or related experience.

Senior Level:

  • Bachelor's degree in any field.

  • Two (2) years clinical research or related experience.

  • A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

  • An advanced degree (Masters or PhD) may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis if the degree is in a field of study directly related to the work assignment.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in science or health related field.

  • One (1) to Three (3) years of clinical research or related experience.

  • Experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g. EMR or EHR and data management systems).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of federal regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting hourly range (or hiring range) for this 0.50 to 1.0 FTE position has been established as:

  • Entry Level: $23.30 - $29.62

  • Intermediate Level: $25.35 - $32.24

  • Senior Level: $27.40 - $34.85

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
